2017 Planetary Conjunctions
Eleven significant conjunctions will occur in 2017.
The year starts out with Sūrya and backpedalling Budha yuti in Dhanus (Sagittarius). This yuti ends on January 14 with Sūrya’s entry into … (Capricorn).
Maṅgala, Śūkra, and Ketu will be yuti in … (Aquarius) at the start of the year, with Mangala and Ketu yuti in Rahu’s Nakṣatra of Shatabhishak.
Budha Yutis Amongst Retrogrades
Budha, at ~11° Mina (Pisces), approaches retrograding Śūkra at ~15° Mina, in the naksatra of Uttara Bhadrapada on March 16, forming an exact yuti during the morning of March 18. This conjunction will be yuti Sūrya, which will be ~11° away at ~4° Mina at this time in the same Nakṣatra of Uttara Bhādrapadā.
Buha goes retrograde soon after, on April 9, but won’t experience an exact yuti with another graha during this retrograde, which will last until May 3. He will remain yuti Sūrya in Mesha (Aries), however, during his retrograde.
A couple months later, Budha (direct) then joins Maṅgala for an exact yuti at ~21° Mithuna (Gemini) in Punarvasu on June 28. Sūrya will also participate loosely in this yuti, at about ~8.7° away at ~13° Mithuna, in Rahu’s Nakṣatra of Ardra.
Then Budha goes retrograde again on August 12 and rejoins Maṅgala at ~4° Simha (Leo) in Ketu’s naksatra of Maghā on September. This conjunction will be yuti Sūrya, which will be ~10.8° away at ~16° Simha, in …’s Nakṣatra of Pūrva Phalgunī. Rahu will also be present in Leo during this conjunction.
Budha goes direct on September 5 and rejoins Maṅgala at ~13° Simha in Maghā for the last time of the year on September 16, but this time free of Rahu’s presence. This will also be loosely yuti Sūrya, which will be ~16.9° away at ~29° Simha, in …’s Nakṣatra of Uttara Phalgunī.
Śūkra joins Maṅgala at ~25° Simha in Pūrva Bhādrapadā on October 5.
Brihaspati Yutis in Libra
Brihaspati will see alot of action in Svātī in the fall. Budha (~8° Libra) joins Brihaspati (~7° Libra) in Svātī on October 18. This conjunction will be yuti Sūrya, which will be ~6.4 away at ~1° … (Libra), in Chitra. Then Śūkra joins Brihaspati at ~13° … (Libra) in Svātī on November 13. This conjunction will also be yuti Sūrya, which will be ~13.8° away at ~27° (Libra), in Vishākhā. Finally, Maṅgala joins Brihaspati in Libra on November 29, where they will cohabitate for the remainder of the year without experiencing an exact yuti.
End-of-Year Budha Yutis
Budha enters Dhanus on November 25, where it will be yuti Śani. Budha joins Sani at ~3° Dhanus, in Ketu’s Nakṣatra of Mūla, for an exact yuti three days later, on November 28.
Then Budha goes retrograde on Decemeber 2 and begins his moonwalk. Budha backs up slightly to meet up with Śani at ~4° Dhanus in a head-on exact yuti in Mūla on December 6.
Budha then reaches Śūkra at ~23° Vishākhā (Scorpio) in Jyeshtha, head-on, on December 15. This conjunction will be yuti Sūrya, which will be ~5.9° away at ~29° Scorpio, in Jyeshtha. Candra will also be yuti during this conjunction in Vishākhā.
Budha returns to direct motion by December 23, 2017, running back through the higher degrees of Vishākhā again.
End-of-Year Yutis in Dhanus
With Budha behind him, Śūkra then catches up with Śani at ~6° Dhanus (Sagittarius) in Mūla on Christmas Day, December 25. This conjunction will also be yuti Sūrya, which will be just ~3.5° away at ~9° Dhanus, in Mūla.
The year will end with all three S’s (Sūrya, Śūkra, and Śani) yuti in Dhanus. Sūrya and Śūkra will be less than 2° apart in Pūrva Ashadha, with Śani 7.5° behind in Mūla.
